Vatican Tradition Updated with 3D Printing

The Vatican Swiss Guards are making a massive change this year with their traditional, metal helmet being replaced with ones that are 3D printed. This is the first update to the uniform in over 100 years, the previous update being the introduction of the modern uniform in 1914. The first batch of 3D printed helmets were delivered to the Vatican on January 22nd, the 513th anniversary of the founding guard. Printed using an HP 3D Printer, these helmets are much lighter and cheaper than their metal predecessors. Taking a mere 14 hours to print makes them much easier to produce as the previous metal versions took nearly 130 hours to manufacture.
